Zammy stood outside on the emerald green lawn of Castle Comealot, breathing in the fresh air and letting out in a deep sigh of satisfaction. At least for now, the recent stress of his job could be relieved. With the expansion to Roos Dagger, he had been dealing with more and more work, much more than went in for Castle Comealot; but that was to be expected. Roos Dagger had to be the best of the best as a military base. It was for the people's safety.
Even as he pondered the implications of having a military base, Zammy wondered what Roos, the King, would think of all the changes. As his mind turned to Roos, the greates coincedence Zammy had ever seen in his young life occured. In the air ahead of him, a small white sphere suddenly materialised. This sphere expanded outwards, bigger and bigger, causing Zammy to jump in surprise and prepare his gun, when there was a blindingly bright flash and a very loud exclamation in a very familiar voice:
"ZAMMY!!!"
He opened his eyes to see Roos hugging him tightly, arms wrapped around Zammy's mid-section and a massive trademark grin painted on Roos' face.
"Roos? Wha...but... where?" Zammy struggled to express all the questions rushing through his mind, and Roos extracted himself from his advisor before grabbing Zammy's hand and still wearing his massive grin.
"Roos exp'ain to all of 'em! C'mon!" And he raced off towards Castle Comealot, dragging Zammy behind him by the hand.
In a couple of hours, it was all set up. Roos was standing on a podium in Castle Comealot's main hall, dressed once again in his crown and cloak, and he was being broad-cast all across Roosland, to every TV screen and radio. Clearing his throat childishly, Roos waved at the cameras, and began the story his father, Shuten-Doji, had told him...
Millenia ago, at the beggining of Creation, when Gods and Goddesses were still known and worshipped, there was Land. Now, this Land lacked a name- for it stood between the realms of life and the after-life, and nobody knew what to call it. Upon this land there were tribes- bestial tribes of all different kinds, demons warring over the Land in a desperate bid for power. One of these tribes was the red-skinned, white-haired, fierce warrior tribe, the Goblins.
The war raged on for centuries, until the Goblins found a leader- the Merciless Jinsama Doji. In the family tree, he is Roos' grandfather, and the father of Shuten Doji and Ibaraki. Their mother, and Jinsama's wife, died because of the great war, and in a rage, Jinsama sought the power to end all the suffering and unite the Land. His advisor, a young Goblin who had lost his family name because of shameful acts, (that being the second part of the name, e.g Doji in Shuten Doji) was named Jaisorou. He told Jinsama of an ancient curse that was unique to the Goblins; if they killed their father, they would obtain great power, at the loss of their immortal soul, and become a Dark Goblin.
Jinsama decided it was worth the risk, and despite the pleas of his sons, killed his father. At once, Jinsama's hair became a deep jet black, and his eyes became inverted as well, white circles on a black background. He had become a Dark Goblin.
Thanks to this newfound power, and the fact that all Doji males possess a unique ability in their body, Jinsama soon lead the Goblins to victory, slaughtering all in his path. His unique ability was to change his body into that of a gas, which made him a lethal opponent anyway without the incredible strength of a Dark Goblin. However, once they ruled the Land, Jinsama became a brutal and horrible King.
Ibaraki and Shuten Doji, the sons of the merciless king, met and Ibaraki pleaded with his brother to stand up and lead a revolt. The Doji power was strongest in Shuten, after all; for his power was unlike any other. He could absorb the energy of the Sun and transform, obtaining a power that surpassed all known ones, even of the Gods themselves. He was also very popular with the people, because of his courage and handsome looks, as well as his never-ending honesty. But Shuten still loved his father, and refrained from taking action.
The Gods and Goddesses met, and debated whether they should interfere. One particular Goddess, whose name was Meiko, volunteered to go down and speak with the Goblins. She had seen Shuten Doji from a distance, and had fallen in love with the Goblin prince, despite the sins of his father. So Meiko descended to the Land, that had now been named Jinsamaland. She asked Jinsama publically to halt his cruel treatment of his own people, in a kind and reasonable manner; Jinsama, in response, struck her without provocation. This attack was applauded by Jaisorou, who still advised the king; but to Ibaraki it was the final straw.
He charged his own father, only to have Jaisorou get in the way and engage him instead. The two began to battle, Ibaraki clearly having the advntage, as his Doji powers allowed him to pass through solid objects with concentration. Jinsama was about to interfere and strike down his son, when Shuten stepped in the way. He begged his father to end this, but Jinsama refused. Shuten prepared himself to attack, but still lacked the conviction. His own personal vassals, the genius Teteri Taton, and the great warrior Kekeri Katon, yelled at him to fight, and the Goddess Meiko ordered the two vassals to approach her.
In their hands she placed two mystical swords, enchanted by the Gods- one was a long katana, with a red hilt and a wild dragon carved into the perfectly sharp steel of the blade, that shone with holy power and would never break, or be unable to cut. The other lacked the sharpness of its twin, and was in the form of a Jitte sword, being a long metal pole, with the same ornate hilt, and a dragon carved in that coiled around the longmetal pole of the Jitte. The two vassals without hesitation presented the swords to Shuten as a gift from the Goddess, and he finally held the conviction to battle his father.
Using the Shuten Doji Slasher and the Shuten Doji Smasher (the katana and the Jitte), he battled against his father's smoke. The swords were the only thing that could impact upon him whule he used his unique powers, but the fight sitll raged on for months, long after Ibaraki had finished his precious advisor. Shuten possessed the power to kill his father, but if he did, he would become a Dark Goblin as well; a risk he could not take, for the sake of his people.
At last the genius Teteri Taton told Shuten, during the battle, fo the Great Goblin Gate technique. Together with Ibaraki, Kekeri Katon, and the Goddess Meiko, he created the symbol that was used to seal away Goblins and Dark Goblins in another dimension, as a prison for their actions. Shuten then used the spell, and finally defeated his father, sealing him away in another dimension, never to return.
Jaisorou however, was not done. Years later, after Shuten had risen to the throne, and the Goblins were happy in their reign and their new kingdom, Jaisorou escaped his life imprisonment, and challenged Shuten with the claim that he could destroy all of Goblinland, the new more diplomatic name Shuten had given his country. By this time, Shuten had married the Goddess Meiko, and she lived among the Goblins; she even had a child, the baby Roos Doji, half Goblin, half Goddess.
In his possession Jaisorou had a pair of incredibly powerful mystic amulets. Both of them, he claimed, had the power to destroy Goblinland alone, unless worn by a Goblin of the Doji family line. Shuten immediately volunteered himself, but Ibaraki prevented hi, saying Goblinland needed their king. While the brothers argued, baby Roos escaped his mother's clutches, and used his already developing powers to stretch across and snatch one of the amulets. His arm snapped back, and the amulet was placed around his neck. In a sickening green light, the baby Roos looked up at his mother, who was crying tears of holy pearls over her disappearing son, as the amulet transported him away.
In a rage, Shuten grabbed the second amulet and put it round his neck, only to find that nothing happened. Jaisorou gleefully informed him that his son had taken the only booby-trapped amulet, and that the one Shuten possessed was nothing but a trinket. He attacked Jaisorou furiously, but the cowardly advisor transported himself away before he could receive his deserved punishment. And so the Great Goblin King lost his son, and wept and roared up at the sky in his rage and sorrow.
The story ended there. Roos let out a breath, and it was received by stunned silence.
"Soooo..." Roos said slowly, trying to lighten the mood, " Roos want jelly!"
