The midday sun cast heat waves across the barren desert sands. Everything was still, no birds marred the perfection of the blue sky, nothing living moved on the ground below. Even the desert lizards sought shade from the heat.
All of the sudden the stillness was disturbed, a small swirl of choatic energy materialized in the midst of the sands. Slowly it expanded, tossing the dust up from the ground.
There was a bright flash, momentarily blinding everything. When the light dissipated the chaotic energy was surrounded by a strange archway constructed of spinning gears and hissing hydraulic tubes. Standing just infront of this was a double bent figure. It leaned heavily on a metallic staff that glinted off the sun. There was another bright flash and the archway dissappeared.
The figure appeared not to notice. For many minutes it stood stock still taking in the alien landscape.
Finally it spoke: "It appears destiny has finally brought me to my destination." The voice was creaking and masculine.
The figure looked behind it and spoke again: "It also appears destiny has trapped me here. No matter, I don't plan on returning anyways. Death usually follows where destiny is concerned."
From a deep pocket within his robe the man produced a small cylindrical object. He pushed a small button on the side and a lid popped open. He looked to the inner working of the machine and observed the direction the small needle was pointing.
"South" He said, and headed off in that direction.
Slowly the desert consumed the trail of the man's footprints, not a creature aknowledged his presence...or so he thought.

(OOC: Sorry guys I'm gonna edit this one, because I just saw the World map and me going straight from the western continent to Great Continent-East makes absouletly no sense)
Sand...everywhere...sand. For weeks Barnibus had been walking through the stuff, sleeping in the stuff, and probably damned well breathing the stuff. Needless to say he was sick and tired of it.
For over two and half weeks he'd travelled through the desert sands, with no one but his foot prints for company; and that was the way he liked it. Albiet he was damned tired of sand. But, the solitude was comforting. It was a chance to be alone. A chance to sort out his thoughts and hope for guidance. He knew this was where he was supposed to be, but beyond that he was as clueless as the sands were endless beneath his feet.
That night as Barnibus slept on the warm desert ground a dream visited him.
He was flying over a vast ocean, the sea beneath him was blood red with dismembered bodies bobbing in the waves. He eventually reached a great continent. As he flew over the surface of the continent he saw a massive battle. The dead and dying littered the ground, in the center of piles of corpses stood beings of great power.
There was a bright flash, temporarily blinding everything. When vision returned Barnibus looked up into the sky to see great meteors of fire raining down around him. One headed straight for him. Closer...closer...closer...It was right on top of him...Colliding with him body, crushing his bones...
Barnibus shot bolt upright air rushing into his lungs. His mechanical heart screamed with a high pitched whir, jetting blood to all parts of his body. A cold breeze blew and the moon was still high in the sky. He shook himself off and began walking, not bothering to pull out his compass, instinct told him which way to go.
It was evening the next day when he reached the shore. The thick smell of salt and decay assaulted his lungs but it was pleasing to his mind. It meant he was closer to his goal. The warm rays of the sun cast their dying warmth across the wrinkled skin of Barnibus's face and as the sun sank beyond the horizon its light caught the sea at just the right angle and for one brief moment turned the whole thing blood red. Barnibus smiled, this was definetly the right way.
The elderly man closed his eyes and stepped out onto the water. In his mind he envisioned glowing etheral strands. He gathered these strands and laid them out infront of him and began to weave them into a carpet under his feet.
As his toes touched the sea, the water crystalized around his foot and froze, forming a platform. As his other foot touched the water the platform expanded. Slowly he walked forward onto calm evening sea, a pathway of ice extending always a meter or so in front of him and began to melt about ten meters behind. And so, it was, before long the Wizard was well on his way across the sea, smiling knowing destiny awaited him on the other side....
(OOC: Soon to be appearing on the Great Continent-West)
