After the initial panic of the fights breaking out, Roos realised there was very little reason to worry. His loyal subordinates Xarius and Carniku easily prevented any genuine violence starting, since Carniku made a pre-emptive strike, something Roos had just been thinking about, and Xarius had contained it with his new-found powers. Roos was satisfied that there would be no more fighting, now that Mei Huang had arrived, just in time to solve everything.
Gohitz's brief interjection about a Spelling Bee confused Roos, but he shrugged and said,
"Wha'efa 'oo want mistah Gohiss..." Of course, Roos was very illiterate, and the challenge Gohitz had given him of a Spelling Bee "to the death" would probably end in a fight, as Roos had never liked writing. Then again, he could always get Zammy to substitute the actual spelling for him, or just use the secret communication systems in his ear... Roos didn't have much to worry about anyway, now that Karius and Mei Huang can finish their debate.
Or so Roos had hoped. Then there were a number of psychic debates, none of which Roos could hear, and Mei Huang's continuing act of innocence still had Roos, despite Karius' best efforts to convince Roos otherwise. He was caught between the arguement between the Resistance fighter and the Guardian, and couldn't decide who to side with. When Mei Huang used her powers on Gokan and hid behind Roos, he stood ahead of her protectively, but a little confused as to what was actually going on.
"Roos wana help Mei... But Roos no know..." he said, apologetically and being torn between his own altruistic desire to help everybody, and the harsher system of justice Karius and Gokan both seemed to be representing. Mei's powers as well were influencing Roos' decision and, as he lacked any of his own psychic prowess, he would stand as much of a chance against them as the frozen Gokan had.
Chartreuse argued logically to Roos that Mei Huang should be trusted, since Karius had yet to supply any genuine evidence, and neither had Gokan. Roos thought that arguement made sense, but before he could agree, a third option was finally given to Roos, a fairly neutral option that he found himself agreeing with.
"Shin am right!" Roos cried, grinning and giving Shinkuza a big, adorable thumbs-up.
"Dis ain't no try-all or nuffink! 'Oo c'n talk bout all dis later, but right now Roos need as many peoplies as Roos c'n haf, 'n Mei b'ings lotsa peoplies. So's when dis is all ofa, 'n Roosland wins, den we'll deal wif dis. Alreet?" Roos liked Shinkuza's idea; it was much more sensible than punishing a potential ally. They would fight alongside Mei Huang until they had won, and then they could debate whether she had or hadn't killed anyone.
The time they were wasting arguing could be time better spent preparing anyway, and Roos' patience with the talk was over. Standing in front of everybody Roos cried,
"Enuff is enuff! Roos haf said wha' Roos want to, 'n now we get ready ta fight! Talk am cheap when dere'sa fight comin'. So le's make a plan now, 'kay?" Roos smiled, hands on his hips, a determined look in his eye at all his allies. There was no need for them to remain allies once the fight is over; it was a fight for survival after all, not for friends.
