Combat Rules
1)This is going to be like an actual martial arts tournament, therefore:
No Weapons
No Armor
No magical items
No tools
In other words, nothing except for your bare hands, feet, and ki abilities.
2)Keep the fight clean:
No low blows
No eye-gouging
No biting
No pulling hair
Show mercy by allowing your opponent to give up or submit.
3) Contain fighting to the ring, all characters who fight outside of sactioned matches will be disqualified. This prevents harm to innocent bystanders.
4) How to Win:
Opponent is knocked out
Opponent verbally gives up
Opponent taps out of a submission hold
Opponent touches the ground outside of the ring.
Referee orders the match stopped and declares a winner.
Time runs out and the referee declares a winner(See 'Time Limits' thread)
5) All regular board rules regarding auto-hitting, god moding, etc will apply.
The auto-hit rule will take affect every three days instead of five. So when you post an attack, your opponent has two days to respond; on the third day, it is declared a hit.
This will encourage more constant posting and help move the tournament along faster.
6) Outside interference or the use of tools or weapons of any kind will result in disqualification.
Questions? Comments?
Well, I can't really think up any more rules right now, and it's getting kind of late. So post any questions and comments here so I can make sure I didn't forget anything.
OOh! Ooh! I got a question!
How big is the arena floor?
The arena floor is just like the floor used during DBZ tournaments, except it's held together by intense magnetics and artifical gravitational bonding, so it won't get torn apart like the last time. The ground around the floor is concrete, though, not grass like in DBZ. The stands are protected by an invisible shield that utilizes stolen technology similar to Juin kinetic armor (for the safety of spectators. The shield has a 100 ft ceiling that you can't fly over or through. If you some how leave the shield perimeter during a match, it will count as a ring out and you will be disqualified.
Q - what about people who want to post in the matches? Like if they want to post what they are doing and such?
A - If your character is watching a match, you can post their reactions.
Q - Is rebounding off of the shield a ring out?
A - No, if your character comes in contact with the shield, it will repel them.
Q - My character doesn't use weapons to fight, but he/she still fights with something (eg: umbrellas). Can they still use it?
A - No. This is an unarmed tournament.
How Matches are Judged
An impartial judge will preside over each match during the tournament. Judges will not preside over matches where they control one of the characters (With the exception of certain NPCs that I will control).
There will be 4 Judges:
Neojiisu
Samyik
*Open Judge Position*
*Open Judge Position*
Umm... yeah... I'm looking for two more people to be judges. I'm running a little low on officers with Jynsyng gone.
Judges will ensure that everyone is following rules and control 'referee' characters who will step into the match if needed, even throwing in a towel and calling the match over!
At the end of each match thread, the judge will post the who the winner is and in what way (Ring-out, knock out, etc). If there is no clear winner when the time limit runs out (IE: by any method listed under 'Combat Rules'), then this is how the judges will decide the winner:
1) Who got the last hit in
2) Overall Writing Quality
3) Number of Attacks (landed or unlanded)
4) Sportsmanship (Not god-moding, taking and dishing out hits, following rules)
While it might not seem fair, I am placing some emphasis on who gets in the last hit to encourage constant posting. You don't want your opponent to get that last hit in do you? However, Judges should not base decisions solely on this factor./b]
At the end of each match thread, the judge will post the who the winner is and the specific reason why they chose him/her. The losing fighter may appeal to another judge to look at the decision.
To The Victor go the Spoils.
Money:
The RPG itself never emphasized monetary gain, but in the game, the tournament offers prize money (since I doubt they'd be handing out 'credits for new techniques'):
1st Place: @1,000,000
2nd Place: @500,000
3rd Place: @250,000
4th Place: @100,000
All others who don't make it to the final matches will receive @500 per victory.
Yes, I did pick a random key (@) on the keyboard and make it the official monetary unit.
Credits:
Each victory will earn one credit
The third place winner will receive 2 credits for the final battle
Second Place will receive 3 credits for the final battle
First Place will receive 5 credits and one 'wish' from the administrator.
