Day dawned on the fourth day of the tournament, as janitors scrambled to clean up the last scraps of trash, and smoke billowed from the restaurants that were firing up their ovens for another riotous day of festivities. Everyone had something to say about each of the matches that day, and there was word of more than a few bar brawls between drunken betters during the night.
Eight competitors remained of the original thirty-two, and all four matches were scheduled for today. Extra bleachers were swiftly constructed around each stadium to make room for the ever-growing crowd. Merchandisers were quick to roll out with cheap T-shirts with each of the fighters' names on them, each with some cliche printed underneath. "Omen: Kicks the Crap Out of You" read one. There were Samyik hats, and large fingers reading "Bryce #1". In a move of irony only marketing teams would attempt, Quaj-Mi pajamas were made and were ripped off the shelves by crowds of young children.
The matches of the day were posted on the jumbo-tron:
Kenu v. Omen Bryce v. Indigo Samyik v. Deandes Gabriel v. Quaj-Mi
As the sun ascended higher into the sky, the crowds poured into the complex: faces painted, foam fingers in place, t-shirts on, and sleepy children in their pajamas. The judges and referees took their places. The bookies took the bets. The spotlights turned on.
After his match with Zach, Kenu had quickly left the arena to head back to his ship to rest and start training for his next fight. Before arriving at his ship, the fighter had bought a tape of Omen's current match. Figuring by the brackets that the two of them would be fighting in the Quarterfinals, Kenu wanted to be aware of his opponent's style of fighting and attacks.
Arriving at his ship, Kenu quickly said the password and as the body check was completed, he entered the ship. Now inside, the fighter took some time off to talk with Achika (Computer's name-named after Kenu's mother-however is rarely addressed by this name from Kenu) and later took a nap. Waking up a few hours later, the fighter took a shower and then went in search of his clothes after freshening up. Kenu took a new white muscle shirt and black pants from his closet, quickly grabbing his black leather trench coat on his way out of his bedroom.
With his clothes now on, Kenu walked into the living room and saw the videotape of Omen's match against Phalluce on top of the big screen tv. The fighter inserted the videotape, and flopped onto his couch. Kenu watched closely as the videotape began to play, and payed close attention to Omen. The fighter went on to watch the whole tape several times, before deciding to stop it in order to go off and train.
Arriving upstairs in his training room, Kenu told Achika the setting he wanted for his training and later entered the room. Training intensively with Omen's attacks in mind, the fighter soon finished his training within several hours. Tried and his strength diminished, Kenu arrived back at his bedroom and feel asleep.
Waking up the next day, Kenu realized that he was going to be late to his match unless he left right away. Quickly taking a shower and all, the fighter went into his closet and pulled out a blue and white sleeveless gi. Kenu wore this type of gi when he was taught his skills as a child, and when he later taught others these skills with his parent's in their dojo. The fighter soon left the ship, saying good bye to the computer, and ran towards the tournament area.
Now in the area, Kenu looked up at the big screen to check what Stadium he would be fighting Omen in. The fighter saw that it was Stadium 4, and quickly made his way towards it.
