Aeris liked to consider herself a brave girl and yet it seemed that the hardest task she had faced thus far was saying goodbye to her family. She'd grown up learning about her families history and the power that was within her. She'd spent most of her days learning from the elders in her family who also possessed many of the same gifts and when she wasn't learning she was often looking after her younger sister and the rest of the little ones. When her parents had told her that she had been selected to go to the Academy she hadn't liked it one bit. She couldn't help but to distrust outsiders and aside from that she was content to stay in the country and home that she so loved.
They had explained to her however that each of the three family's would be sending someone and that she should have considered it an honor to have been select dot represent their family. Everyone in Menith knew about the three families. While many other families existed it was the special three that held significance; the Ethan's, the Iyana's and finally her own family the Yuuta's. Their's was a story that every child learned at a young age and with her last name came respect. Aside from that it was her duty, her birthright to serve her country and do whatever was needed of her. If her country needed her to go to the Academy then she really had no choice.
She spent most of the boat ride to Ithoria in her room staring out at the ocean waters from her window wondering if the Academy would allow her to be near her beloved water and just how long she would be away from home. The last few days she had been home she'd spent with family and when she hadn't been with them she had been sketching them in the small book she kept with her so that she would have something to remind her of home while she was away. If she was lucky Aerith, her little sister wouldn't grow up too fast without her.
Once the boat had reached the port and docked there was a woman waiting for her who held a sign with her name on it. The woman looked not too much older than she and was wearing grey robes. As Aeris approached her tentatively clutching her small satchel of belonging the woman flashed her a small kind smille. "You must be Aeris Yuuta. We're happy to have you here. In fact one of the others arrived yesterday and another is due to arrive a bit later. You must have so many questions and I'm sure you're famished. Come with me."
Aeris didn't say a word. She simply nodded and followed behind her making sure to keep her pace as she looked around. This place was nothing at all like her home. While some may have found the architecture astounding, Aeris thought it had nothing on Agosica of course she was still somewhat bitter and resentful of being here. While the woman who had now introduced herself as Cierra chattered on about the Academy and points of interest. Aeris wanted nothing more than to be shown to her room and have some alone time.
