SEXUALITY: Heterosexual. OCCUPATION: Professional Fighter. PLACE OF BIRTH: Planet Earth. RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Married to Ceres Izumi Artuna. FAMILY: Solo Artuna (Stepfather - unknown), Faith Artuna (Stepmother - unknown), Alexander Artuna (Stepbrother - deceased), Ruby Artuna (Stepsister - unknown), Ceres Izumi Artuna (Wife - missing). HEIGHT: 5’9” WEIGHT: 150lbs EYE COLOR: Topaz. HAIR COLOR: Raven black. MORAL ALIGNMENT: Neutral – good or evil, nothing will stand between him and his goal. AURA COLOR: Translucent orange. FACE CLAIM: Ryo Sakazaki - KOF (King of Fighters). WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT: Zack owns a pair of gloves that were bought and given to him by his sister before he went into Army as a young man. They’re composed of black leather, though very worn and faded through years of use. Extremely comfortable and durable, the gloves also have little pouches where metal plates and spikes can be added to deal that little bit of extra damage - though at great risk to his own hands. As a young man Zack would often refer to them as his “Turn-Table” gloves, as he believed that they could be what turned the tables in a battle with an opponent. SPECIAL SKILLS: Having lived in isolation for so long Zack has expert survival skills. He started nurturing this skill in his time within the army but it was his time spent alone in the wild lands of Eden where he really perfected the skill. It was in the army that he also became such an adept strategist and capable fighter, though he actually doesn’t have specific training in one fighting style, but a mixture of many. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Once upon a time Zack would have been classed as an extremely handsome young man. He had a boyish appearance, like a model, that his attitude complimented perfectly. But years of self-abuse as well as pent up hatred and sadness caused his appearance to follow suit. His face is never without a noticeable layer of black stubble, which varies in length depending on how often or bothered he can be to shorten or remove it. His hair is as thick and black as ever and usually hangs in front of his eyes topaz coloured eyes, reaching down to his top of his spine. Over the years Zack has decreased in body mass, though he still stands at a reasonable height of 5’9”. His body has a far more slender appearance than the muscular one he had in his youth, granting him the appearance of someone who is weak and quite ill; though his ghostly pale complexion adds to this. His fighting gi and everyday clothing consists of an orange shirt, the sleeves ripped off at the shoulders, a dark brown – almost black – vest top underneath, and matching orange trousers; he never wore footwear. In recent years he had adopted wearing a large royal blue cloak of sorts, one that is extremely tattered. Zack has always worn the same set of clothing, ever since he left home, with only recent events being an exception to this. Recently his attire has consisted of a long-sleeved top, a pair of combat trousers, leather motorcycle boots and his usual gloves; all black. Even though the dark clothing better matches his sombre outlook he still does not feel comfortable being in different attire. PERSONALITY: In the past Zack was young, in love and the very definition of an selfless hero. He would jump in front of a bullet to save a complete stranger and battle unimaginably powerful foes in the name of truth and justice. Every moment shaped him and every experience caused him to grow. He learned from his mistakes, however severe, and cemented them into his very being so he would never make the same ones again. However, all this changed after the events of the one fateful day that shaped his life forever. From that moment on Zack was a mere shell of his former self. His reason for living had been forcibly ripped away from him and he had nothing left but the urge for revenge and the drive to take back what was rightfully his. Those were the two main focal points in his life for many years, and after time they were joined by a burning rage and a quelling sadness. He left behind all traces of his old life and took to wandering the planet in complete isolation. With nothing but his own thoughts, feelings and memories for company he steadily fell deeper into darkness until he cared for no one, not even himself. Though deep down a small light flickers, a remnant of whom he used to be and the only hope he secretly holds of finding her. Zack is extremely intelligent though his now arrogant nature often shadows this; his renown as a fighter simply adds to arrogance. He is extremely hard to read due to his flippant nature. One moment he will be as emotionless as stone, the next allowing his emotions to overwhelm him and fighting with his heart rather than his head. In the same fashion he more often than not chooses to rely on instinct rather than strategy, despite him being quite the strategist thanks to his youth in the army. He tends to fight in an extremely obvious manor so that he leads his opponents into a false sense of security. He now has a morbid and dark view on life and because of his experiences has become very cynical and doesn’t trust the very world all around him. He is not loved and there are less who he would still class as a friend. He no longer sees the word in black and white but rather different shades of gray. But this doesn’t matter to him, all that does matter to him is finding her again; nothing will stand in his way. HISTORY: Zechariah Ryden was found on the doorstep of his stepparents house, with nothing but a note with his name on it, on the 8th November, the very same day that both his stepbrother and stepsister (twins) were born. His stepmother, Faith Artuna, instantly decided she wanted to keep him and raise the poor boy as one of her own but his stepfather, Solo Artuna, was strongly against the idea; like many arguments between the sexes his stepmother won. Despite already being several days old in appearance his new parents decided that he would share the same birthday as their own children, to avoid confusion. And so Zack became part of the Artuna family. The Artuna family were not rich but neither were they poor. Despite their relatively unimportant status in society they were a family of purebred Saiyans in a galaxy where the Saiyan race was still somewhat considered an endangered species. At Solo’s insistence Zack was tested as a baby and it was revealed that he wasn’t a purebred Saiyan but rather half human. This only strengthened Solo’s resolve not to have him as part of their family, but it had already been decided and Faith would not be moved over the topic. It would be this moment that altered the relationship between Zack and Solo up until the day he left home. Besides his fathers resentment Zack had a reasonably normal life while growing up, mainly thanks to his mother treating him with love and his brother, Alexander, and sister, Ruby, as if they were blood related. Thanks to his mother he was always included alongside his siblings when his father taught them of their Saiyan heritage and the combat and Ki training that coincided with it. Solo was a great fighter, renowned for it even, so proved to be an excellent teacher for his children. Zack excelled in both areas and instantly found a friendly rival in his brother, though no matter how hard he pushed himself he could never win any affection from his father. Years passed and Zack’s childhood was a generally happy one. He made friends easily, got good reports and grades at school and the majority of his family openly loved and cared for him. It wasn’t long before Alexander, Ruby and Zack had all finished school. Like their father, who was a commander in the army, both Alex and Zack decided that they would join the army and serve their planet while Ruby had opted to stay behind with their mother as she was not a lover of violence. Zack believed that opting to follow in his father’s footsteps would help bridge the gap that had always resided between them, a gap that Zack never understood nor knew the reason for, but it never did. Sixteen months after signing up both Zack and Alex had completed their training and were placed under the command of their father, at their father’s request. They were to be assigned to the planet Trion, a desert world that the forces of Earth were in the process of freeing from the clutches of a supposedly evil dictator; or so that was the official reason given by the government. After a tearful goodbye from their mother and sister they were shipped off planet to the planet of Trion and the army camp that would be there new home for a length of time not even they knew. Some time passed and Zack and Alex had already set themselves apart from the rest of the platoon in skill, ingenuity and willingness to get the job done. The two brothers worked as a single unit, though it was Alex who was praised by their father, much to the dismay of Zack. Even when Alex tried to praise Zack it was often pushed aside as Alex merely being modest. However, all this was trivial when compared with what was to come. It seemed like a routine mission, much like they had been through countless times over by that point. They were to assault a village full of the local resistance, take prisoners where they could, as well as to search out and assess what supplies and weapon caches they had on site. However, upon arriving at the location it became quickly apparent that the village was filled with women and children, with very few men and absolutely no weapons in sight. This greatly troubled Zack and his worry grew doubly so when his father issued the sudden command to leave none alive. When he approached his father about his concerns he was scolded, told if he didn’t obey his orders he would be court marshalled and that if he was truly his son he would have obeyed without concern. The shock overwhelmed Zack and he simply fell into place with the rest of the men. He could tell from Alex’s face that he also shared Zack’s concerns, though he dared not voice them after seeing the response Zack had received. And so the attack went ahead. It was a massacre. Men, women and children were killed without distinction between friend and foe. Before long the outside of the village was covered in bodies and blood, none alive apart from the soldiers, who had not suffered a single casualty. Zack had used only one clip of ammunition but in truth he had purposely missed each shot and not taken a single life in the assault, a truth that would never be revealed. He was disgusted in himself for not being able to do as his father had ordered him to; in this he was a bad solider as well as a bad son. After the slaughter it fell to Zack and Alex to clear the buildings of any remaining resistance and search for weapon and supply caches that were hidden within. Everything was going easily enough for the first few buildings and Zack’s conscious even allowed him to hide some terrified families away before any of the other soldiers saw them. Finally they came across what appeared to be a small warehouse, a location that was sure to house the supplies and weapons that they were searching for. Zack instantly volunteered to scout the building first, wanting to make up for his earlier cowardice, but Alex had insisted on going in first while Zack covered from the doorway; their father was only too pleased to grant his true sons request. And so Zack waited at the doorway of the warehouse while his brother disappeared into the darkness beyond. A minute passed with no noise from within, the rest of the unit had gathered around the doorway while they waited for Alex or at least a sign to say it was safe to proceed within, but none came. Suddenly there was a loud explosion from within the building, the very floor underneath their feet shaking as a cloud of dust rushed out of the doorway. Without thinking Zack rushed into the smoke to find his brother, the cries of his father attempting to hold his unit in place outside. It wasn’t long before Zack discovered the location of the explosion. The room had been destroyed from what appeared to have been a claymore mine or small explosive. Rubble lay everywhere and it appeared as if the room itself was only a slight gust of wind away from crumbling into nothing. However, more horrifying was that a layer of blood covered almost the entirety of the room. Zack slowly moved around the room looking for anything that could be recognised, any part of his brother that remained. There was a charred hand in a pool of blood on the floor but whether or not it belonged to Alex he couldn’t tell. In a pool of blood on the floor Zack spotted a pair of dog tags and on closer inspection discovered that they were Alex’s. Things spiralled out of control after that day. Solo lost his command pending an investigation as to whether or not he was guilty of several murders, which coincidently lead to the death of his own son. Zack was discharged from the army due to emotional damage and returned home to his distraught mother, sister and father. In the time following his return home Zack withdrew from his family and fell silent. It wasn’t until the day of the funeral that Zack finally uttered a word. He confessed to his mother that he felt responsible for his brother’s death and cried in her embrace as she comforted him. She explained that it had been his decision and she didn’t hold Zack responsible in the slightest. It was then that he realised he had questions he needed answering and his father was the only one who could answer them, so explaining this to his mother he left to confront his father. His mother tried to stop him but it was something that Zack needed to do. Zack demanded to know why Solo had been so insistent on murdering all of those innocents. He wanted to know why his father had given the order that had lead to his brother’s death. But Solo, who was drunk, blamed Zack for his son’s death claiming that if Zack had gone into the building instead of Alex then he would have died instead. He told Zack the reason why he had resented him all these years, that he was a stain to the family’s name and that the wrong son had died. Years of trying to impress his father only to find out after all this time that he despised the fact that Zack was part of his family, that his father blamed Zack for Alex’s death and that he even wished it had been Zack to die instead. At that point Zack exploded with emotion fuelled by an almost uncontrollable rage from deep within. It was that day that he first ever reached the rare Super Saiyan transformation that resided within his Saiyan blood, a feat that neither Solo nor Alex had ever reached. In the confusion that followed Zack struck his father across the face with all of his might, knocking him down. After striking his father Zack could no longer stay with his family, nor could he bear to live in the same house as him. He said his goodbyes to his mother and sister, refusing their requests for him to stay, and he left. It pained him that he couldn’t stay for his brother funeral but he knew it was time for him to leave. His hair still golden from his transformation he rushed through the city, unsure of what he was going to do and where he was going to go, all he knew was that he needed to get off of the planet any way he could before his emotions completely overwhelmed him. In desperation he stole a one-man space pod from a local spaceport and fled into the solitude of space. It was only once he was off of the planet that his transformation subsided and he collapsed through sheer exhaustion. It was some time before he finally awoke or at least he assumed it was, in space it was very difficult to tell how much time passed. Minutes blurred into hours, hours blurred into days, and days blurred into months. Every waking moment was spent grieving for the death of his brother, the loss of his mother and sister, but only hatred resided for his father. He decided at that point that he would no longer refer to Solo as his father but rather what he truly was, his stepfather; no more, no less. He could have controlled the pod to take him wherever he wanted, he had trained in flight of spaceships in the army, but he couldn’t face doing anything. He was content to just travel through space, alone, with his own misery and memories. By the time the direction that the pod was travelling coincided with a planet Zack had all but put the past behind him and decided he was going to start a new life for himself. The pod landed on a planet the computer database registered as Eden, a planet bustling with life. It seemed the perfect place to start his life anew. Clambering out of the pod he wasted no time in turning around and channelling his Ki into a blast just big enough to obliterate the pod; it was evidence of his previous life, a life he was no longer attached to. With no way off of the planet Zack took a few moments to stretch his limbs, deeply breath in some of the fresh air and take in his surroundings. Nothing would ever be the same again, but that was a welcomed prospect. He was home. (More to come…) Basic Abilities:
ADVANCED ABILITIES: Super Saiyan Transformations - The ability to become a Super Saiyan was once considered to be nothing but a mere legend and are an advanced set transformation assumed by extraordinarily adept members of the Saiyan race. Despite many members of the Saiyan race achieving the transformations there is still very little that’s scientifically known, or proven rather, about the transformations and their limitations, most information gather having been grasped from firsthand experiences. There have been several categorised levels of Super Saiyan Transformations, each granting the user a somewhat different physical appearance as well as . These are the levels that Zack has achieved:
More Coming Soon… ULTIMATE ABILITIES: Ultimate Zackrifice - This is probably the one single ability that Zack is both grateful and fearful for having in his arsenal. Without a doubt it is nothing less than a final resort. Much like the name entails, the cost for Zack using this particular attack is nothing less than the ultimate sacrifice, his life. For a lack of better description this ability is very similar to the self-destruct ability, though it varies in several ways and is extremely more powerful. The process of this ability is one where Zack gathers every last drop of his Ki and his life-force into and around himself, causing his aura to swirl violently around his body like it’s on fire. Eventually his aura also begins to sparkle as it overloads with energy and his life-force; when this happens he has already passed the point of no return. When he releases it all, it creates a huge 360 degree expanding burst of energy, the equivalent to several atomic explosions, in the shape of a large dome around his body that is composed of absolutely all his energy along with his life-force. Being that the blast is more powerful than himself there is no way for Zack to survive it, so attempting to stop at this point would still result in his death, though it would be for nothing. Unlike self destruct this ability does not cause Zack’s body to explode but rather once finished it leaves him completely drained, a lifeless shell. Despite the permanent end result for Zack, there are other resounding reasons why he is wary of using the ability, the devastating effects it has on the environment surrounding him. The destruction alone caused by the ability is devastating. The blast causes a crater several miles in every direction, though this can vary depending on how much energy is use and how powerful Zack is at the time. But it is the very act of dispersing that sheer amount of energy that is the true danger. The energy is so intense that seems to alter the very atmosphere of the area. Black storm clouds envelope the sky above, heavy rain consistently falls while yellow lightning whips across the sky and a deep roaring thunder deafens the area. No life grows here and no sun shines. The area is sent into perpetual darkness, a wasteland of death and destruction. | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 40px;][STYLE=background-color: #f1e3b4; font-family: courier new; font-size: 30px; color: #404040; min-height: 150px; padding: 5px; text-align: center; moz-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; -o-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; -webkit-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px;]Z a c k A r t u n a[/style] |
