Character Statistics
Name: Falkan Reval
Other Aliases: Given name: Fay'kal Reval
Age: 87
Species: Half human/half V'alcan: A rare race from the planet Faerdone, V'alcan's are human in appearance, with similar physiologies. This is because the V'alcans originated with humans taken to 'perfection' via genetic engineering. That engineering has gifted them with several marked advantages over their human ancestors and a few severe disadvantages. The bone and muscle structure of V'alcans is much denser than that of humans, allowing them to survive impacts that would shatter human bone, lift several times their own body weight, and move and react at speeds almost indiscernible to the human eye. However, V'alcan bones are hollow, like those of birds, which makes the average V'alcan smaller lighter than his human counterpart. A fully grown adult male generally weighs between forty and fifty pounds. Furthermore, V'alcan cells are much more resilient than human cells, which manifests itself in a rapid healing ability. A healthy V'alcan may recover from any non-lethal wound nearly instantly, depending on the severity of the wound. All V'alcans are able to sense movement, changes in the environment, incoming attacks, etc. with such astonishing accuracy that other races believe them to have a mystical 'sixth sense'. The description is accurate, although there is nothing mystical about the skill. In fact, the ability comes from a node in the V'alcan brain that creates a connection between the mind and the positive and negative charges in the environment around them. With intense training, some V'alcans have been able to increase the potency of this connection to an extent that allows them to affect their environment. This skill is called 'realmshifting', and a tiny handful of V'alcans have taken it to truly remarkable heights – moving mountains, freezing entire bodies of water at once, and creating whirlwinds...however this takes many years to master. The location of the node in the emotional center of the brain creates another unusual connection between a V'alcan's emotion and the strength of his abilities. Stronger emotions (such as rage or ecstasy) will enhance his abilities, while weaker emotions (such as apathy or depression) have the potential to actually weaken him. The single crippling disadvantage of the V'alcan anatomy comes in the form of an extremely weak immune system. Although they may heal from nearly any injury, disease is another question entirely. A minor infection, the kind that would make a human child feel sick at most, is potentially fatal for even the strongest V'alcan. The same is true for toxins, poisons, and venoms. Their effect on V'alcans is invariably many times worse than on a human.
Being a hybrid, Falkan has inherited many of the V'alcan gifts, including the stronger, faster body; the node that allows him the 'sixth sense' and realmshifting abilities, and the healing ability, although at a reduced effectiveness. The weakness to infection and toxins is also present, although greatly offset by the stronger human immune system. In a nutshell, Falkan's wounds will heal in hours or days, rather than seconds, but he will survive sickness that would kill a full blooded V'alcan within hours. In all other areas he is V'alcan.
Face Claim: Gerard Butler
Height: 5'5”
Weight: 50 lbs.
Eyes: Black (change to blue in times of intense emotion)
Hair: Black, beginning to gray slightly.
Aura Color: Blue (Only appears in times of intense emotion)
Description:
Falkan has dark, handsome features with a permanent scowl attached. He carries his small stature with an aloof, severe bearing that often makes people remember him as much bigger than he really is. His shoulder length hair is generally in place, but unkempt, and he maintains a perpetual five o'clock shadow. He generally wears dark brown pants and tunic, a lighter colored hide overtunic (sort of like a short sleeved trench coat), and a gray hooded cloak made of a heavy woven metal fiber. His black boots have metal spikes in the toes and heels that, along with the cloak, allow him to offset his light weight and maintain balance. He also wears hide gloves with shot woven into the knuckles and metal plates on the back of the hands. The right glove has a vambrace attached with a locking mechanism for his grapple.
Personality:
Most people are simply ignored by Falkan, deemed not worthy of his time and attention. Those who do rate enough to interact with him find him to be cynical, pessimistic, and hostile. He rarely speaks, but when he does, people listen...often to be rewarded with sarcasm and insults. Though age has tempered the wrath that ruled him for many years, the personality that anger created long ago has taken root too deeply to change. This personality only intensifies in battle, where he fights with such reckless abandon as to appear suicidal. In truth, there are times when he resents the fact that he continues to live in spite of his mad collision course with self-destruction. No one holds a grudge as well as the warrior of Reval, and those who have been unfortunate enough to become his enemies have done so for life - which usually isn't very long thereafter. In spite of his outward demeanor, Falkan is a good man at heart. Though he scoffs and sometimes openly mocks optimism, he secretly admires in others the hope he has abandoned, and will not hesitate to step in and fight for their dreams and ideals as if they were his own. He is honest and trustworthy in his personal dealings with others, but that does not translate to the battlefield. He will cheat, lie, and fight dirty if necessary to win – after all, if the battle was so trivial that he could afford to lose, he wouldn't be fighting in the first place. He does feel things very deeply on the inside, but only those few who have earned his trust would know it. Befriending him takes heroic amounts of time, trouble, and patience, but it is rewarded with loyalty is beyond compare. As with his enemies, those who Falkan counts as friends will remain so for life.
Moral Alignment: Good
Weapons and Equipment:
Falkan carries a veritable arsenal with him at all times. His overtunic conceals dozens of throwing knives, as well as several daggers, two hand axes, and small metal spheres filled with explosive powder to make primitive grenades. His primary weapon, however, is a staff made of a strong, but flexible metal and a variety of interchangeable heads that line the cuffs of his boots. With a simple flick of the wrist, Falkan can change the end of his staff into a spear, axe, javelin, blade, or even a small hammer. He also carries a grapple weapon known as the Talon. One of only three in existence, the Talon's cable is no thicker than a shoelace, but can hold almost an unlimited amount of weight. The pulling mechanism, however, produces only between 950 - 1000 lbs. of draw.
Special Skills: Falkan has mastered the V'alcan martial art of Ken'lao (an art focused on diverting an opponent's attack and following with a series of devastating blows before he can recover) along with a wide variety of other arts native to Faerdone. He has also become something of an acrobat from years of combat experience and learning to dodge blows by trial and error. He is also a brilliant strategist and tactician, again thanks to years of battle and the ability to survive and learn from fatal mistakes.

History:
Falkan was the Prince of the V'alcan people in the land of Reval, on the planet Faerdone. His father was killed in battle shortly after his birth and the kingdom remained under the rule of his grandfather. However, when Falkan was just twelve years old, his father's best friend and adviser to the throne, Lord Ki'clov, murdered the emperor, imprisoned the princess, and exiled Falkan, telling the people that the two had wandered off and were killed. Falkan survived the desert to which he was exiled and made several attempts to stop Ki'Clov, but never even made it back into the city. So he began to wander, determined to return someday and overthrow the traitor. He traveled throughout Faerdone, stopping just long enough to master the weapons and fighting styles of the people he encountered. From the Ocean-dwellers he learned nearly infallible balance and marksmanship with a bow. From the rangers of the plains he learned to survive in the wild , even in the most desperate of situations, and the use of all manner of melee weaponry. He received military training from the nation of men and their armies, and the jungle dwelling people trained him in agility, stealth, and the throwing weapons common to their style of warfare. After many years of such traveling and learning, Falkan became a more formidable warrior than his people ever knew. As he turned back toward his homeland, with vengeance in his heart, he encountered a strange old man called Apps, who called himself the V'alcan Guardian. Apps claimed that Falkan still wasn't ready to face his enemy, and revealed the art of realm-shifting. Though the art would require years to master, Apps trained Falkan in the basics, claiming he would need it for what was to come. Just as Falkan began to master the basics and planned to leave Apps, the guardian hurled the prince through a portal to another world in turmoil – the planet Dragonia. Though Falkan was certain his new mentor had betrayed him, Apps knew the time on Dragonia was necessary, both to force Falkan to increase his strength in a world full of superhumans, and to hide him from an enemy far greater than Ki'clov until the time was right.
Falkan spent several years on Dragonia, and just as Apps hoped his adventures forced him to exceed his limits time and time again. By the time Falkan returned to his own world, Dragonia was in a time of unprecedented peace. The same was hardly true for Faerdone. Falkan returned to find his homeworld locked in a losing battle with a powerful evil and his allies. The war soon enveloped all Faerdone, but thanks to his new strength, Falkan was able to help turn the tide, liberating not only his own empire, but the entire world. It took years for the world to stabilize, but when it did, Falkan found himself displaced. He had no desire to rule an empire, leaving that duty in the hands of his sister, and resumed his wandering. Many years later, Dragonia returned to his thoughts, and he attempted to use realm-shifting, which he has now mastered, to reopen the portal through which he had been hurled long ago. Falkan returned to find the planet a very different place, now known as Noria – and it appears more time has passed than he realized.
