Jones just rolled his eyes not even bothering to hide it. He watched his partner walk out the door that usual self assured smirk on his face. He had more sex then entire fraternities of college students. He often wondered what Vegas would be like as an old man when time began to catch up to him. The thought was fun to him, a Vegas complaining about creaking joints and bad vertebra. He wondered how he would handle it. He doubted it would be pretty.
"Ahem. Jones. If you wouldn't mind. Perhaps we could continue this briefing without your partner. Seems it might go better."
Jones turned and smiled at his boss. It was not a pleasurable one. It was a shark's grin moments before it bit. The smile vanished in an instant.
"Ya know what you are right we have things to talk about... how failure to communicate THERE WAS A WHOLE #^&*ING CAVE FULL OF STARVING VAMPIRES TRAPPED IN THERE WHERE SOMEONE COULD TRAP US!"
The sudden violent burst of volume startled Mr. Icarus. He had known Jones to be insubordinate, rude, and uncaring of social graces and No Smoking signs but never to scream in the board room. Jones did not seem sorry.
"There we were, trapped in a cave with over a hundred vamps... We dealt we always deal. It is why you pay us what you do and why you don't send those damn pretty boys instead. We get it done. Time after time. What happened down there? I don't know. We killed vamps, passed out. Woke up to some villagers patching us up. The rest is a blur and haze of action and screaming. I know I got stabbed in the face, I know I killed the Freeman... I know we killed alot of things. The details... ehh don't know that. I DO know I am tired, I need a drink, and I want to get this over with because I have to talk to someone who is at least fifty times more important then this entire room right now and.... and..."
Jones looked out the window. Insuborination forgotten, anger forgotten. How could it withstand what he was seeing. A world... and entire world filled the sky. Huge... massive beyond massive. He could see oceans, land masses... there were no words... no language for this... and as he watched it was growing bigger. Jones stared for a moment... then lashed out with his senses. He needed Vegas. Vegas would know what to do. He was smart. Oh so smart. He sped into action. The door to the boardroom wasn't even an obstacle the lock broke under the impact of Jones as he screamed his partners name, as he sped into the room across the hall where his partner was... where his partner, Rose... and Rita were... wearing very little. A look of disappointment and disgust filled Jones's face as the worlds hit... and bright light filled everything. And the sound of a sonic boom filled the world.
Jones screamed and... looked around as the light faded. Things seemed normal... Vegas was nearly naked. Jones was disgusted, Rose and Rita seemed pissed, and... he heard phones ringing all over the place... and then Jones looked out a nearby window. The world in the sky was gone... but a storm had taken it's place. A storm that Jones had never seen the like of. Jones regarded it for a moment and a word came out of his lips unbidden.
"Sarah..."
Without really knowing why Jones reached out with his mind and grabbed a chair out of the room, it levitated briefly before blurring it's way through a nearby window shattering it easily. Jones grabbed Vegas's pants and threw them at his partner and then scooped up the smaller man with ease, holding him under his arm like a football by an arm around the waist. Without pausing to explain Jones jumped out the window... and began a drastic decent. He could hear Rita and Rose scream after him, could hear the howling of the wind, the high pitched scream of his partner in full panic. They fell and fell... but didn't speed up. In fact they seemed to be slowing down a bit as they fell. It took a while but by the time they reached the ground rather then a bone shattering smash Jones landed with a mere bone jarring landing on both feet. He looked around at the starring crowd in the parking lot.
"Hmmm... I was hoping that would work."
