Gohitz approached his target. The focal point for all of the escaping potential shadow people: the docks. He fired one beam at the ocean infront of the farthest ship. The energy exploded creating a tidal wave which enveloped the harbor. Many people turned around and fled only to gaze in horror at the explosion of black energy enveloping the island. Gohitz turned around as he heard buildings crumble and saw the dark wall of death. "They must be killing them so that we can't interogate them and discover their plans!" Gohitz deduced. He had to save some to interogate! Gohitz flew swiftly down to the city and ripped up a resturant from its foundation. He began to fly up but then the laws of physics ruled its ugly head. The building could not support its own weight and crumbled and fell back into the shield along with its inhibitants. Only one survived, a young woman clenching to the peice of ruble gohitz was holding. Gohitz looked at her curiously as he flew away. "Eh she probably don't have any interesting info" Said Gohitz as he let go sending the woman plummeting to her doom in the ocean.
Gohitz stopped and turned around to see the charred crater of the city and the glass beach from a distance. The sun slowly rised from the east causing it to glitter. There was no noise for this eerie scene. Gohitz turned around and continued flying and only thought one thing. "AWESOME!"
It was silent within the ruins of the city, the screams of those who had suffered were extenguished along with their lives. The ashes settled amidst the charred rubble and the embers traced outward as black smoke continued to rise. If someone were to look down upon this crater, it would have seemed as if someone had taken a giant rake and it smashed across the population in a determined effort to cover every inch of land. Those who survived had ran to the outskirts of the city, but at the apex of the destruction, nothing was alive.
Of course, there were bound to be exceptions.
A frustrated Shinkuza struggled to rise out of the burnt debris. With both hands he lifted part of a second story building that had just happened to land on his face after he crashed through god-knows how many layers of concrete. After heaving it off, he collapsed down to one knee and panted as he tried to catch his breath. He breathed in deeply and then sighed.
Damn it, He thought as he finally rose to his feet. Squinting he looked back to the spot where the shadow-cratures had assembled. It was black, burnt earth and smoke. The rest of the city was down to rubble, but in that spot... things had been vaporized. He looked at his hands and saw that his wounds had not completely healed. He knew that he had lost his left arm, but it was raw and not all the skin had been replaced yet. The same went for his right which had been broken along with having several fingers blown off. Damn, he repeated, although for a different reason. Nothing he had done against the barrier had worked.
Whilst the others were throwing their might into destroying the barrier, Shinkuza was busy doing it his own way. With both hands full of powerful energy, he had charged into the psionic wall and blasted it with his power at point blank. The resulting explosion had only rebounded against him, almost hollowing him out from the center and making him fall flat on his back for the second time that day. At that point he had been angry, so angry that he had ignored the fact that before him no only stood a wall of force, but a black inferno that was racing towards him. Instead of heeding the danger, he had charged forward once more, intent on breaking through all by himself. The decision of fearlessly, or rather, mindlessly attacking the burning heat had nearly vaporized him as it had the immediate scenery.
Worst of all, the demons or whatever had dissapeared along with Musashi.
Although this all raced through his mind, Shinkuza knew he was weak, and unfortunately the town was a bit low on blood at the moment. The idea of finding an unprotected village was suddenly delicious.
Without so much as blinking, Shinkuza turned and walked past the dead remains of one of Bryce's Cities. He did not stop until he reached shore.
