One by one, the assassins fell. As each breathed their last, something strange happened. A black mist floated from their mouths. It pooled in the sky, like a swirling cloud, and inside a tortured visage could be seen. It pressed against the edges of the darkness trying to escape, but couldn’t. Within moments it was blown away on the night time breeze.
As each of the warriors of Eden beheld their opponents in dying throes, it was suddenly apparent how pitiful these creatures were. Though, they had tried, and failed, to slay each and every one of them. The last look in their fading eyes bespoke pain and a hell far greater than any of the living had experienced. Perhaps, the killings were their means of escape, a trading of places…but, what ever their motives, the warriors of Eden could not allow it to happen. They had to be stopped.
But how?
As they pondered and wracked their brains on what to do, a sudden thought sparked in their minds. What a strange time of year for this to happen. Why now, became the question. Even to the slowest of our heroes the answer was obvious. Perhaps that would be the place to search next for answers…
(OOC: Alright, I didn't clarify this earlier, but please jump in to the A Strange Mystery to Solve thread on the surrounding area board.)
