At 10:00 AM sharp, the announcer stands in the center of the ring, waiting for each combatant to make their way out from the entranceways. "Now introducing!!!!
(OOC- Whoever posts first can describe the announcer. Best of luck!)
Alykoth had hardly been inside in arena, and already the tournament was shaping up like last year. He was waiting in the shadows with his head bowed to avoid any unwanted contact it might have with the "low" ceiling. Apart from that, though, and that Alykoth had never heard of his opponent, Ginseng, it was completely different. Alykoth's whole mindset and mental state were changed, as was his outlook on his own life and the lives of those around him. During his multi-day long trance (and following Sleep), Alykoth had learned much about the hidden secrets of the body and mind; of the universe, its inner workings and complexities. However, any profound and or life-changing events would have to be put as much aside as possible if Alykoth were to finally advance, and, to another extent, win the tournament. Not that the fighting and martial arts championships of the planet weighed particularly heavy on his shoulders, but it would be nice to win this year, especially after he had come from such a long ways away to participate.
A loud noise from beyond his shadowy alcove brought Alykoth back to the arena. He turned to look at what was going on: match preamble and fighter introductions, mostly likely. Then the words Alykoth had been waiting for sounded out, signaling his entry into the fight.
You know him from last year as the Electric Eckolon!" The voice shouted. "The alien giant; the Demon of Eden! Now introducing: AAAAALLLYYKOOTTHHH!!" The crowd went ballistic; they clearly remembered the name, and probably the matches associated with that name. They were ready, Alykoth was ready. Upon hearing his name, the alien wrapped his black, bat-like wings around his huge body and bowed his head. If one were to be listening close enough, they would have heard an uttered oath.
The door separating arena from hallway exploded, showering the surrounding area with bits of metal and plastic. The crowd went tight-lipped; what had happened? Was there a bomb? Whispered began to rise and soon a rumble could be heard taking off from the masses. It was then that he entered the match. Alykoth burst out from the ruined doorway and practically glided over to the arena floor, soaking in the roar of his spectators and the bright shine from the arena lights. Glancing down at the (for once) tall and gaunt announcer, Alykoth gave a look that said "Bring on the fight."
((OOC: Auto-hit period expired. Sorry, Ginseng, I was really looking foward to the match.))
After a moment or two of standing in the arena, Alykoth cast a disappointed, yet surprisingly dangerous look at the announcner, so simply hid his fear and shruged at the giant. Then, after another moment, the man approached Alykoth, who had to almost squat down to hear what he said.
"Look, I donno where this Ginseng guy is, but he's late. If he's not here in the next minute, you win the match by default and move on." He whispered to Alykoth, who nodded and drew himself back up his full height.
The minute passed slowly, especially for Alykoth, and especially considering Alykoth's new state of mind. Soon, but not soon enough, that minute ended and the announcer walked to the center of the ring with his microphone in hand, and addressed the crowd, who were, by this time, also quite restless.
"Well, folks! It looks as if Ginseng isn't showing up, which is a shame! I know you all wanted to see this fight!" A wave of boo's and hisses came from the masses. "But! He added, Don't get too discouraged; Alykoth now moves on from this match to the next round!" This addition, however, brought a change in yells, this time to excited and cheerful. Alykoth would have none of it; he expected a fight this round, and to not receive one was a dishonour. He would fight hard next round.
Clasping his wings back around his body like some leathery cloak, the huge Eckolon strode from the arena, hoping he could find a not-too-dull way to pass the time until his next fight.
