The shadow filled city lays restless as the newborn sun starts to peak over the horizon. As dew on the grass begins to evaporate into the air, the city begins to awaken. Mothers hang out the washing while fathers get ready to go to work. Young children walk to school, while drunken fools from the night before stumble there way home. The city begins to buzz excitement again as the martial arts tournament continues to rage on.
A fresh burst of air fills the lungs of Sanity as the smell of baking bread and barbequed bacon fills her nose. The light hits her eyes gradually as she becomes aware of her surroundings. Her body lays on the cold concrete that starts to send shivers up her spine. Looks around to herself in a alleyway between a bakery and a restaurant of some sort. Her body feels fresh from her meditation and sleep. Standing, she begins to roll her neck around, as the sound of bones cracking echoes throughout the alley. The street at the end of the alley seems to be reasonable empty for the moment.
Her boots crunch on the cement as she makes her way to the street. A burst of sunlight hits her eyes, making them squint before becoming refocused. Across the street she notices a bar with a blackboard out the front. Something has been scribbled on the board with multi-coloured chalk...
"Breakfast served daily."
As she reads this, a horrendous noise comes from Sanity's stomach that is so loud that several people walking by look over there shoulder's at her. Her feet hit the road as she makes her way over to the bar. This bar seems to be just like the one she entered the other day. OLD.
Opening the rustic wooden door, she notices that the bar looks exactly like the pervious one that she had entered. The floor was made of a dark timber. The chairs, stools and tables where made of a lighter coloured timber and everything looked like it was made in the dawn of time. Sanity began to walk towards the bar as she a young woman walked out from the back room. She was about 5'5 with blond curly hair that reached her shoulders and wore a red poke-a-dot dress with a white apron on over the top of it. She looked like she was at least 50 but tried to make herself look younger by placing her face in a tub of foundation.
"What can I get ya?" Her voiced shrieked throughout the empty bar as Sanity started to dust off one of the stools.
"Bacon and Eggs." Sanity replied taking her seat at the bar. The woman disappeared into the back room. Sanity looked around the bar to see what seemed to be a fresh bloodstain on the floorboards. The stench of smoke filled the air as the woman returned from the back room with a plate. With the plate in front of her, Sanity began to devour the food, which had been prepared, not taking any notice of the outside world as she was too hungry to think.
