He wracked his memory but Carniku honestly couldn't remember visiting Isysia. But as his trainers slipped through the grass lining the side of the Highway he started remembering all the battles he'd seen across Eden, and the sheer pummeling that the Great Continent had seen. Especially the Western side.
The Juin's detonating a K-bomb, a lot of stuff that came from that psychic guy Bryce. Hell, even Roosland drew in a lot of crap, that registration act had ended with an out and out war which they'd kind of... hell, him and Roos had nearly fallen out over it. That was saying a LOT, given they were best friends. Though they both seemed to think they were the brains of the operation. Sometimes Carniku was genuinely worried that Roos was right about that and he wasn't... but looking at it now, at the slow but reasonably steady flow of traffic, he smiled to himself. Everything had recovered, the people of Eden had picked themselves back up again. Even here, even though the idea of living on the Great continent being synonymous with getting killed every few weeks, people percievered.
'course, the trouble didn't usually come this far inland so Isysia was normally alright. Still, as he hopped the rails to get onto the road and walk the last few feet into the city on Asphalt, Carniku couldn't help but feel a little sad about all that. He was still alive and well, of course. If anything, he was stronger than ever, but what had happened to everyone? It used to be some big, simple, evil threat loomed over them every couple of weeks. But it'd been really peaceful lately. The last big fight they'd hadn't even been against evil it'd been against... well, a completely justified if very poorly reasoned fear.
And even though the bill to register Super Humans seemed to have fallen by the wayside, Carniku was painfully aware he hadn't really seen any of his friends in months. Had they just left? Was there some memo saying that every Super Warrior had to go fight on another planet and he'd just missed the memo? Literally, the only people he'd seen were Roos and the people with rumours that Xarius was occasionally spotted around Roosland. It was frustrating, to say the least. But as he walked into Isysia he wondered if it was worth it?
Maybe, just maybe, all of this was so the people of Eden could have some peace. Without them around Eden wasn't a target... but some tiny part of him still wanted the Juins to start trouble. Just... just so he'd have something to do. As soon as he thought it he was horrified and resolved to spend this entire day in the city as a normal human with no super powered shenanigans.
Which was fortunate as he managed to walk into the middle of a rally with an old man screaming at the crowd through spittle stained lips about the "Ev-UHLS of Supah Hyoo-MANS!"
"Ahh, Jeez" Carniku muttered "Why can't I just find a normal place..." glancing at the signs, Carniku walked to the back of the crowd and folded his arms with a huff. May as well listen just to see what the enemy was thinking. Though, as far as they were concerned, he was one of them. Until he switched his powers on. Carniku had a sudden, overwhelming feeling of bad luck and realised something.
This would be the PERFECT time for one of his friends to turn up. One of the Super Humans these guys hated. It was bound to happen. Surely?
