This could be the most important announcement I'll ever make.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I'll be leaving on a two-year religious mission early in 2005. As I was lying in bed last night, I realized that this will be my last year as administrator of this site and I'll need a steward or successor to run this place in my stead.
The obvious choice was Samyik, but he's gone so I'm looking for someone else.
When the original founders of this RPG quit, they were lucky to have me as a member to take up the flag right away and run with it. But now that this RPG has taken off a bit with a lot more active members, I think it's only right of me to give some advance notice that I'll be leaving next year. This will give me some time to groom a successor properly, rather than leaving and hoping things go well.
As administrator of this RPG, responsibilities include:
Most importantly:
Have the time to check on this board nearly everyday; if not to post, then just to make sure everything's going alright.
Make updates to the main page about once a week or once every two weeks (Member profiles, etc)
Willing to make a commitment to devoting some good hours to running this game.
The officiating of the game on the message board, including:
Editing posts/boards/categories
Ensuring sagas run smoothly
PMing members about their status and their actions
Setting penalties for rule breakers, including banning
Settling disputes among members
Appointing officers and archivists to assist you
Maintaining and updating the Web Site, which may require skills with HTML coding and image editting, including:
Adding and Updating Member profiles
Updating the News page and Rules page as needed
Maintaining the Archives
Accepting new member applications:
Have the balls to reject people, or suggest they make improvements
Recognize quality when accepting perspective members
Encourage originality
Two years is a long time for an RPG to run; who knows how this one survived nearly five years thus far. I know many of you may not be hanging around here three years from now, but knowing how much this RPG has expanded, I am not ready to see this site close because I have to leave. I’m convinced there’s at least one of you who can run it for such an extended period in my stead. After four years of running Forced Heroes, it’s become like a child to me, something I’ve built up with my own hands that I love taking care of. If, after two years of absence, I return to find this site still running— even if it’s not under the steward I left it with— my joy will be indescribable.
Although officers will be the first ones looked at, the task is open to anyone willing to accept it. I’m also open to more than one person running it. I’ll be training anyone who feels they’re up to it. E-mail me at my personal e-mail address, not the FH one.
