This won’t be an elimination style tournament. Instead, teams will fight in brackets accumulating victories and defeats in the scramble for the overall placement. Places will awarded by team, but scores and recognition (IE credits) will also be distributed to individual players based on the following rubric:
Combat Effectiveness 40% Lets face it, this is a tournament, and in the end, this is what counts most. Includes players tactics, success at tricking/trapping opponents, creative use of technique
Writing Style 25% Players descriptive skill, clarity, drama and dialogue
Teamwork 25% For teams, how well a player aided their team, by distraction, group attacks, healing, sacrifice, etc. For individuals, how well they coped with teams of opponents, how inventive their tactics, etc
Game Sportsmanship 5% How well a player followed the rules of FH within the tournament, taking hits, NOT god-moding, etc
Match Victory 5% All or nothing
Unless the teams come to a decision during the battles themselves (total elimination) the matches will be determined by overall team scores, with hard decisions being judged by each team member's individual score.
Players will also accumulate their own individual points in the form of MVP points - each match will have two people voted for points, an MVP and a runner-up. MVP's will accumulate 2 points for their nominations, while runner-ups will accumulate 1 point.
General Rules:
Note: These are rules copied from the main website's rule page that are of most concern in the tournament, just to remind everyone of the general FH rules.
+Don't "Kill" someone: If you want to "kill" someone, contact them first, and check if it's ok. They may want to get something in return. Nothing is free. No one likes it when people try and kill our characters without our permission, so don't bother typing "Kills Gohan", because you'll just be ignored. If the person has been absent for a little while, you can get Administrator permission instead.
+Control your own character: You cannot control another player's character without their permission. This includes not only auto-hitting and killing other characters, but also grabbing characters and dragging them across the countryside, or posting actions for other characters without their owner's approval. (Note: In the tournament, if the owner of the character desires it, you *may* control their character during your match. Please refer to an administrator if this is necessary, however, so as to stay fair throughout the tournament.)
+Play Fair: As I said earlier don't try and be "an all powerful warrior." We simply don't have those in this RPG, we let our main charcters get the crap beaten out of them and don't try to be "too cool" to laugh at ourselves and stuff. Usually our villians are the only characters that we cannot hurt in battle until we figure out their weaknesses, so don't get frustrated if you can't hurt them yet.
+Unwritten Rules (Elastic Clause): For the most part, the rules to this RPG are very simple and it offers a lot of freedom for what your character can do. While we generally let players play and do whatever, all actions are subject to disapproval by the Administrator and other board monitors. Even if your action doesn't appear to be breaking any rules listed here, there are some things that won't be allowed for one reason or another. Often, it is because of common courtesies that are basically understood while RPing, even if they're not written in the actual rules. Or it may be because your action just wouldn't make any logical sense with regards to the current storyline or your location (IE: going to the beach in Arizona).
+Fusion: Characters can fuse as long as they share a common race. While it does give a boost to your power, fusion doesn't make you all powerful, so the same rules about auto-hitting and god-moding still apply. The fused character gets the techniques of both of its hosts, and the fusion lasts for one battle.
Tournament-Specific Rules:
+Autohit Clause: Autohits have been reduced to a period of ONE day - 24 hours - so as to promote fierce competitiveness in the tournament. Killing characters with an autohit is still prohibited, as is knocking them out. Please refer to the main website if you are concerned over general auto-hit rulings.
+Arena: Due to the nature of the areas tournament participants will be engaging in, there are *no longer ringouts*. In their place, there will be weather effects that will hamper warriors as the fight progresses, each realm offering its own share of obstacles:
-Red Portal: Being the fire realm, the atmosphere is extremely hot and dry, which will drain a body phsyically as the fight progresses. Lava also covers a good portion of the ground, and eruptions occur on a consistent basis.
-Blue Portal: Unending rain hampers a fighter's ability to move effectively, as his/her clothes will be soaked within seconds; visibility is also hampered due to the rain. Lightning strikes both constantly and randomly, putting everyone in constant danger over being hit. The probability of being hit increases the higher a fighter goes.
-Brown Portal: Due to constant sandstorms, visibility is hampered, and like the fire realm it can be physically draining on the body, causing dehydration. Mirages become prevalent as the match drags on, and fighters become more and more exhausted and affected by the heat.
-Green Portal: Being a unique realm, a good deal of fighting will occur underwater, and as a result fighters are conveniently gifted with the ability to breathe underwater. On the flipside, however, the atmosphere above water is very thin and almost nonexistant, making it extremely hard to breathe when emerging from the water.
-Orange Portal: This realm is immersed deep inside a complex labyrinth where light does not exist - as a result, unless light is generated by energy-based means, there is *no* visibility. Wind howls through the various tunnels and caverns of the labyrinth, screaming loud enough to jar the mind and make it incredibly hard to hear, as well. Prolonged exposure to the screaming winds can make concentration extremely difficult, if not impossible.
-Grey and Black Portals: The grey portal, being a world of inverse colors, has no inherent side effects except to create confusion when tracking movement. The black portal is unknown, and cannot be determined as to whether or not weather effects exist. (Administrative note: The Black Portal's effects will be revealed just before the final match.
+Match Lengths: Due to the fact that this year's tournament is team-based, and the fact that there are only three rounds this year before a winner is declared, each match in the first two rounds will extend to a length of *three weeks*, with the final match culminating in a *five week* climax. Please plan accordingly.
+Area Attacks: Understanding the fact that some attacks may target the entirety of a team's members, any attack that affects more than one person or everyone must be *color coded in a recognizable color* your character doesn't already use. Just using text effects (Bold, italicize, etc.) will not be accepted, as they are commonly used and can be easily confused with standard posts. For reference, to make your text a different color, use the tags [*color=] and [*/color], removing the asterisks and putting your chosen color after the = sign inside the tag. Note that this rule is for convenience of everyone involved; failure to do so will result in confusion for those involved and might count against you in judge rulings.
Round 1 starts tomorrow at approximately February 17 2007 at 12:01 pm Board Time ... which is at 6 p.m. GMT... Afternoon just seems cool.
