The silence of the tiny cavern echoed louder than screams. The thick fecal stench of death permeated the air. In the wavering torch light a young girl, chained to the wall, curled tightly against her mother's leg. Her breathing was steady but shallow.
"Sleep now my darling," her mother said, stroking the side of her soft and dirty face. Smears of blood marred her skin, transfered from her wrists while fighting against the chains.
The mother looked to her captors -of the seven only three were visible-, who stood against the far wall of the cavern -not more than two dozen feet awa- staring unceasingly. She turned her gaze aside, unable to bear their dead eyes boreing into her soul.
"How long until you kill us?" she asked.
One of the jailers stepped towards her with the clinking of metal. It was a massive creature, over six feet in height and disproportionately muscular. Its body was covered in hanging chains of all lengths and thicknesses -some rusty, others gleaming. The metal dragged along the ground behind like a cape, and a thin cap of more chain covered its head. Though it was -thankfully- invisible it was clear the figure was male.
"Our master has honor, if your husband completes his task you will be spared." The voice was fitting to the figure: like the clinking of metal.
"Like hell he has honor, my husband will send you all back to hell." She spat in the creature's face.
He smacked her hard across the cheek, leaving a bright tear of blood. The woman's head reeled and tried to focus on the cave.
It was roughly round, two dozen feet in diameter, with the roof coming together about ten feet above their heads. Jagged stalagtites hung from the roof, and slowly dripped moisture onto the floor. against the wall where the jailers stood was a small wooden table, on which two candles burned. For light, torched were jammed into the walls at even intervals of a few feet around the circumfrence of the room. Far to the right of the woman and her daughter the dirt floor sloped up to a large rock which served as a doorway to the cavern. There was the soft sound of the sea from behind her. A tunnel lead downwards from a break in the wall about five feet from where they were chained. The moist smell of open ocean blew up in sporadic gusts from beyond the main room.
Suddenly, the air prickled with electricity and all hell broke loose....
