Shino didnt really know how it happened, but he appeared around a bunch of the tournament fighters. Shino didnt know any names, and didnt really know any of them, just familiar faces from all the advirtisments for the tournament.
Shino decided it was a good time for a topic starter. he kicked the ground beneath him

Instead of gathering with the other fighters, Kasumi just stayed back, perched on a nearby bench wearing a blackened beater shirt and long, blue nylon basketball shorts, matched with black sneakers. She set out by using her free time aroundto take a nice jog, hoping to get away from politics and the media. As long as she was on the island, where she would stay throughout the entire tournament, she had some space away from stalkers with cameras.
As she looked on, mentally, she took note of each and every fighter she saw. Zechariah, Gareeku, Jackole. Each of them either knew personally or knew of Gokan, and if she were to fill in the large void that remained due ot his departure, she would have to get to know each and every one of them, all of their strengths and weaknesses. While she watched, she went over the level of power each warrior put off, comparing it to one another, and to her own. Even at rest, you can tell a lot about the strength of another, and doing it while someone is resting is a lot better than having to do it while they're in your face during a fight.
As Zack dubbed him his "freaky friend", Gareeku couldn't help but laugh. "Then I am honoured. I'll keep that in mind my friend" Gareeku said with a light hearted smirk. Watching Jakole introduce himself to Zack, Shino suddenly appeared out of nowhere, seemingly surprising even himself. Listening to the young warrior speak, Gareeku smirked again. He had heard of the egotistical super hero and had even encountered the man briefly.
"Heh, well to put it one way, he's quite a character" the blue-tailed saiyan chuckled. He remembered the match between Shino and himself at the last tournament. He had indeed fought had, but Shino was the more skilled and experienced fighter, sending Gareeku tumbling out of the tournament in the first round. "Who did you face this time around, Shino?" Gareeku asked the boy-ninja, before detecting another power level, although it seemed as if the strength of the ki signature was that of a "normal" person, to put it one way.
Turning around to look at the source, Gareeku saw that it was the woman named "Kasumi". Gareeku had seen her when talking to Kain the first time the two saiyans had encountered each other. It seemed she was well known, as at the time she had been surrounded by reporters. It also seemed that she knew the warrior named "Gokan", as the blue-tailed saiyan remembered overhearing questions about her linked to the warrior, as well as actually wearing the same outfit as the saiyan warrior.
The first question that came to Gareeku's mind was why? Was it a tribute to him? Was he dead? Gareeku didn't know, but he was almost certain that Kasumi knew. Turning back to the others, the warrior smiled slightly to himself; it seemed the beach had a knack of attracting warriors.

Since her attention was focused on the group, it wasn't hard for Kasumi to notice that one of party members, Gareeku, whom she knew from Gokan during the Karacoto incident as a Saiyan. He was probably wondering why some random person would spend so much time looking at them, which would seem creepy to any sane person. Kasumi was far from creepy, and if people went around thinking the Vice President of Raverita was creepy, she'd never be able to get anything done.
Wasting little time, the Cyborg stood up and stretched her arms and adjusted her shoe laces before moving on, walking towards the small party of fighters that assembled close to each other to converse. There was a small opening between two of the warriors, and not being one to stand behind everyone while they talked, Kasumi made it her right to occupy that space, filling it as she folded her arms over her chest. "Is this a yearly event for you guys," Kasumi asked, "Save the world then fight each other for fun?" Eventually, she glanced over to Shino and nodded to him. "Great fight, Shino. For someone so young, you're quite a challenging opponent to face."
