This years tournament is a far cry from last years Roman Style Coliseum. Like the rest of Isysia the tournament rings blend into the natural landscape. The fighting will take place in a great bowl cut into the grassy land, deep enough to seat 100,000 with all having a good view. Translucent Projector nets hang over the roof the cavity, giving the appearance of open sky above but able to project images and video from any of the 5 rings below.
The tournament rings themselves are simple brown earth, packed down by millions of pounds of pressure by special hydraulic rams to give them a solid feel like that of cement and affording the fighters good traction without imposing man made building materials on the earthen structure.
Everywhere in the arena, nature can be seen as the Isysian gardeners pulled out all the stops. Baskets of flowers dangle from hooks on the wall, adding splashes of bright color to the earthen greens and browns of the mosses and vines growing tangled on the walls. Tropical birds show off their bright plumage from artfully cut crevices in the earthen walls, giving one the impression of being in the middle of the jungle.
The seats themselves are covered with special, durable breed of mosses, providing a comfortable seat that doesn't require cleaning between sessions. Blended in with the natural beauty is technology, every bench split into seats with growing wooden stumps containing a panel for placing bets and ordering drinks and foods.
To enter the arena area, one rides one of the multitude of elevators that ferry passengers to the many levels. A select few are marked with colors, red for fighters, green for tournament officials, and yellow for press staff and dignitaries. The exterior entrance could almost look like a yawing cave, were it not for the perfectly cut archway, cut from quarried stone and mortared with a mix of the famous volcanic blacksand. Directly to the right of the entranceway lies a table with a large sigh overhead bearing the title “registrations”
