The Prelude
Amazing Grudge-The Pasts Present Darkness Part 1
The room was dark, cold, stale. There only light radiating from it was from a television set, no bigger than fifteen inches tall. A man sat in a black, leather chair, his eyes unmoving from the screen. His eyes didn't blink, his muscles didn't move. It was as if he was frozen by the footage on the screen. There was a rapping at his door, the metallic banging echoing in the room, breaking through the sounds of combat from the video tape. This went on for ten seconds, and the man still didn't move.
"Commander! Commander Beal, are you in there!?" Beal didn't move, he just sat. He was intent on studying his tape, and did not want to be bothered. Soon, the door swings open, and a soldier steps in and flips on the light switch, brightening the room. As soon as he did, his eyes locked onto the small TV set, and the tape that was being shown on it. "Watching the footage again, sir?" The soldier asked, but Beal didn't answer. Moments later, another person enters the room, a woman, who shoves the soldier out of the way.
"Commander Bartel Beal! How many times are you going to watch that damn tape!?" The woman shouts, obviously angry at the fact. Beal growls and stands up. Swiftly, the man spins around, and knocks his chair to the floor.
"Damnit Katinlina! I'll watch the bloody tape until I figure out how that bastard took out half of my soldiers stationed here!" Katinlina Silvermerge, or Commander Kat as she liked to be referred as, stood still, her eyes unmoving. Then, as sudden as she came in, a smirk crosses her face, and she begins to chuckle.
"I'll tell you how!" Kat announces as she steps towards Bartel, "It's obvious that you have soldiers that are trained like ants! They just run around, without a plan! You're the reason why they got their butts kicked!" Beal grunts, then walks back over to his monitor. Kat shakes her head. She couldn't believe that her "comrade" was so obsessed with someone for so long. It's been nearly two years since the soldiers under his command, and a legion of his robotic soldiers, were easily taken down by some mysterious fighter, only known to certain people as "The Saiyan". Most commanders would have given up and moved on. "From what I understand, it's your own fault anyway, Beal."
Commander Beal turns around, as if he was trying to understand what Katinlina meant. By the look on his face, Kat knew he was trying to figure out what she was trying to say, so she continued on. "From what I understand, 'The Saiyan' only came because he heard, out on the streets, about your 'top secret' gravity chamber. So, if you didn't go brag to the world about your chamber, he wouldn't have come to this outpost in the first place. Second, it's my understanding that you tried to recruit him, but he refused. Then, you, like a gungho rookie, you attacked. All this was your fault, and you know it."
Bartel shakes his head, and starts to chuckle. The chuckle quickly shifts into a startling laugh, scaring many soldiers moving through the hallways. "You, Silvermerge, and your half-truth, second-hand garbage information. That is not how it happened. Yes, it was my fault that he found out about the chamber. But, the incident, as you described, after he came here, did not go like that. 'The Saiyan', was obviously a terrorist. He was here for a few days, spending time in that chamber. I thought he would be a great soldier to have in the military, so I attempted to recruit him. He wanted the chamber for himself, so he threated me, and my fellow soldiers, to leave, before he killed us. We merely had to defend ourselves and our countries interests. In the battle that followed, the base was badly damaged, as was the chamber. He probably left, thinking it was worthless." Beal gave Silvermerge a straight line, and the soldier, who oddly was still in the room, knew it was a lie. He was one of the first to engage "The Saiyan". Hell, he was the one who had the sensor that picked up on the man's constant raising battle strength. He was the only soldier smart enough to fully avoid conflict with the super powered warrior.
"Well, then, what will you do if he comes back?" Kat asked. It was a question about an unlikely scenario, but she wanted to know. If "The Saiyan" did come back, Beal, and the others, would need to know what to do, and how to handle the situation like the professionals they are. Before the male Commander got to comment, another soldier made his way into the room, holding a phone.
"Sir, you have a call," The soldier conveys, handing the phone over to his superior. Beal clears his throat, and before he even gets to speak, the person on the other side begins to speak. Beal never really got in a word, all he did was nod his head and say yes several times. Before long, it was over, and he hung the phone up and handed it back to the soldier, who exited soon after, along with the other soldier already in the room.
"Who was that?"
"None of your business."
"Anyway, you never did answer my question." All of a sudden, another soldier stumbles into the room, out of breath. Being "polite" both Commanders stand, letting the man get air back in his lungs before asking him what the hell was going on. It was better than having the man talk inbetween breaths.
"We got bogey on radar!" After that, Commander Silvermerge runs out of the room, followed by Beal. Both, running as a quick, yet steady pace, head to the war room. As soon as they enter, their eyes lock onto the giant radar on a screen. Soldiers were busy typing, readying the bases defense systems.
"But the target up on screen!" One of the soldiers does so, and the various camera drones out in the sky and around the city capture the target from varying angles. It was a blue streak across the sky. It was obvious that there was something in this streak, but no one could make it out.
"Zoom in damnit!" The keying sped up, and in time, they got a clear image. It was a young man, with spikey black hair, wearing a blue shirt and gray pants, heading directly to the base. "It's him.....The Saiyan.....He's coming!" Beal shouts, his voice ringing with excitement.
"Should we attack!?"
"No, let's find out what he wants first......"
"How odd, he seems to have been coming. I must be psychic." Silvermerge smirks, and Beal stands, with the largest smile any of his subordinates have ever seen him have. He has been waiting two years, and his plan for revenge was finally getting off.
"Kill him. He better be dead by time I get there..."
Those words repeated over in Beal's head from his phonecall earlier. He was going to have The Saiyan dead, and he was going to hang him by his intrails on the flag pole if it was the last thing he would ever do.
Meanwhile, "The Saiyan", also known as Gokan Bushino, was going back to the place he hadn't been for nearly two years, for, oddly, the same exact reason he went the last time: The gravity chamber. That metalic room got Gokan in trouble with an entire military base the last time, and who knows what kind of chaos it will bring this time.......
