(OOC: I hope you don't mind my taking slight control over your character, Barnibus! If there's anything I mess up, be sure to remove it and write whatever your character would do. And, plz, everyone else, don;t join this thread, it's just between the 2 of us. Thx a lot!)
Barnibus was slowly making his way past a large forest, looking at the trees every other moment, as if they were speaking to him. He stood there for a moment, his eyes closed, as if conversing with the nature around him, then, as he was about to go further, he froze, and slowly turned around,a smile on his face.
Kain stood behind him, his back against a tree, his hands crossed and eyes closed. Barnibus noticed Kain still had his stitches, but he did look better now, than before, when he was just bleeding there.
"You never told me your name..." Kain said, still not looking at Barnibus, though smiling.
Barnibus chuckled. "I had a feeling we would meet again, boy... maybe just no this soon..."
"Yeah, I figured you didn't." Kain uncrossed his arms, stood up straight and looked Barnibus in the eyes. "I want to go with you. Wherever you're going, I don't care. Right now, I know nobody else on this planet, and I know nothing of the order of this world. In half a year there shall be a great tournament, and I plan on attending it. But until then I have nothing to do, and wandering aimlessly isn't what I do best." Kain became silent for a moment, then spread his arms and bowed his head slightly, showing his respect for and dependence on the man whose name he still did not know. (I hope I didn't miss that... crap, that would suck... ) "Will you take me with you?" he said, and looked the practically stranger in the eyes.

(OOC: Like I said, for the most part I don't mind. others will, so just check with people before controlling. As for running this thread, not much point. Tournament starts tommorow. And anyhow, Barnibus doesn't do much inbetween things. I am going to plan a little entertainment for people who get eliminated from the tournament, though, so there's stuff to do not just sit around)
barnibus sighed, he felt bad for Kain. The Old Man knew what it was like to be alone...truly alone. "I'm Barnibus" he said, realizing he'd never told the kid. Kain continued with his words: "I want to go with you." he said. It seemed he wanted a mentor, someone to show him how the world works. But, frankly, Barnibus was far from a mentor. He himself barely understood how any world worked, let alone this one still so alien to him. It took a man of far greater dedication and intellect to understand such things.
The Old Man frowned with pity at the boy's hopefulness. "I know what you're looking for Kain" he said, using the youngster's name for the first time, "I know you're looking for someone to help you. To get you on track, show you how things work around here. But, frankly I'm not the one." He paused. "If you want to learn about the world you have to experience it. If you want companionship be friendly. It may sound harsh, but you can't be babied. Go, wander aimlessly, fate will guide you where you're meant to. You'll find a home soon enough. You have to learn on your own to truly understand. You have to loose..." The Old Man's voice trailed off, a memory suddenly flashing across his vision
The sickening smell of burning flesh floated to barnibus's nostrils. The smoking body of his wife laid beside him. The sky above was dark and tinged with spilled blood. A tall man with pale skin towered over Barnibus, he lifted the young wizard from the ground. "You see them," the towering man said, indicating the charred corpses scattered about the cobbled streets, "They are your doing. Had you not tried to stop me they would all be alive. Your petty display of power is what killed them, you should have left the balance child." The towering man dropped Barnibus to the ground, knocking the wind from his lungs. and casually walked off. Barnibus whispered the man's name, "Sisyphus." The memory broke...
Clouds flashed. A Great Fire Spread. The city slowly burned... And the charred corpses rose. The memory passed as quickly as it came on. Kain stared at the Old Man, dumbfounded at his sudden silence. Barnibus stammered before continuing, "I'm sorry boy. You're on your own." A smile crossed his face, "But, don't worry. If you're ever in trouble, look to the earth and you might just find help."
With that the Wizard turned and began to walk away. "I'm sorry," he muttered both to Kain and the trees.
(OOC: You didn't really understand what I meant by this thread, but it's ok, I'll more creative this time and not make you think of solutions to things for me. In fact, I think it turned out better this way, showing some of Kain's darker side, and somehow more of K and B's relationship (If you agree them on having some connection, which I assumed you kinda did))
Kain was disappointed by the old man's, Barnibus', as he now knew, reply, though he understood it completely. So he was alone again... On an unknown world again... Angry again... Though he still respected the old man, and wouldn't hurt him ever, a small spark of anger and hurt appeared in his heart. Yet it was his own fault, Kain thought. He had gone through something similar before, and he swore he'd never place his trust into anyone else. He did that, and was alone again, feeling maybe somehow betrayed. Oh, he understood Barnibus' decision perfectly, though he maybe felt he hadn't been completely honest with him. 'If he didn't want me with him... he should have just said so...' Kain thought and sighed. he raised his eyes, but Barnibus was nowhere to bee seen. For a moment he stood there, his fists clenched, dark thoughts racing through his mind. But he shook his head. That wasn't him. He has to become more independant... Kain bent in his knees and moved his hand like in the city (think Neo from The Matrix), and shot up into the sky.
'Half a year...' he thought to himself. "Half a year..."
