Frost Bite

A quiet, cold glacier stood frozen. Nothing moved, nothing made a sound, nothin existed. Thick sheets of ice and dense snow for as far as the untrained eye could see. Not a sense of any life material could be found. Like the rival of an arid desert, the ice caps remained deserlate (sp?) and uninhabited.
Only in the distant skies could a glimmering star be seen. It's beauty and mysteriousness radiated so brightly alone in the most northern of skies.
But the "star" seemed to be growing. It's size increased little by little as it appeared to be growing closer. Soon after the so called star took turned to be a a small sphere-like space pod. It hurtled through the unbelievably chilled atmosphere. Small spots of ice and snow shavings had clustered themselves on the ship as it soared at such a speed gathering more from the air.
Resting inside sat Bolt. He was in a light sleep slumped right deep in his seat. So comfortable and warm, Bolt was unaware of the blistering cold that awaited him outside. A beebing went off registering from the computer. At this Bolt opened one eye slowly and looked out ahead. Then again slowly opening the other eye Bolt took in his surroundings and aqquired he had reached some location around the north pole.
This should be fine. No distractions. No life of any sort. I can finally be by myself here. Bolt thought as he surveyed the scenery more. Bolt sat up a bit more and wiped his eyes so he could see more clearly.
Turning Bolt got the computer to prepare to land. Sitting back properly into his seat. Bolt closed his eyes gently again and got himself ready for another rough landing.
[glow=teal,2,300]Landing in process. Remain calm and prepare for a heavy impact.[/glow]
A female computer voice indicated.
Feeling himself dip slightly, Bolt clenched his teeth waiting. He hated these untidy landings. As the pod loweredits altitude, Bolt's ears popped. It took about a minute and then suddenly out of nowhere...
CRUNCH!
The ship plummeted straight into a thick field of snow, stopping dead in it's tracks. From the point of impact, a huge tidal wave of snow lifted and smashed forward creating a small avalanche. Everything lay dormant for a while until a slight stream of smoke wisped up from the hot metal of the ship cooling down on the wet snow.
A hissing emitted from the ship and the hatch door started to open. The heat from inside the space pod escaped and disapeared. Bolt crouched down and stepped out. Immediatly the cold air bite Bolt's face and it tingled all over. At this Bolt got a shiver run down from his neck, down his spine all the way to the tip of his tail.
Bolt tightened his gloves and boots and closed his hatch door. He stood up and looked around again. He was here. Time to begin his calm isolation training. A struggle more for his mind this time then any other part of him.
